A Note from Your Senior Warden

09.21.16 | Vestry | by Barbara Cordova

I had the privilege of attending the Habitat for Humanity wall-raising on Saturday September 10.  As the 25 or so volunteers worked together to raise the 500 pound walls, I was reminded of the proverb, “Many hands make light the work.”  As a self-appointed photographer, I stayed out of the way, but thank you to all the St. Peter’s folks and other volunteers that came to help.  Thanks also to Leslie Williams for preparing a delicious lunch for the volunteers.  Work takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  The good people from First United Methodist Church are building a house right next door.  Do you think we can finish our house before they finish theirs?

Our first Senior Game Day took place on September 14, and seemed to be a success.  I understand that those in attendance decided to meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at 3:00 PM in the multi-purpose room.  Bring your cards, bring your dominoes, bring your games and bring your friends. Plan to stay for 5:15 Eucharist and then dinner at 5:45. You can have a fun-filled afternoon, Communion, dinner and still be home before dark.

The Rector Search Committee has been selected and will be commissioned on Sunday October 2, at all three services.  You can visit www.stpeterskerrville.com and click on “About us,” and then click on “Rector search,” to see the names of the committee members.  After commissioning, Chairman Mickey Horany and the other committee members will have some training, some Bible study and some social time before they receive names from the Diocese for consideration.  If you submitted names to Mickey or me as possible candidates for Rector, I have forwarded those names to the Rev. Canon Joann Saylors, Canon for Deployment and Congregational Development.  After vetting, she will present those names to the search committee.

Our Stewardship campaign is coming soon.  I am excited to announce that we will be doing something a bit different this year. Come on October 9, to find out more.

Until next month, I’ll leave you with this:  “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”  2 Corinthians  9:7

    Blessings,

    Barbara Cordova
